ROCK MECHANICS

Rock Mechanics

Rock Mechanics studies the response of rock and rock masses to the force fields resulting from their physical environment. Isamgeo’s expertise in geomechanics deals with most of the physical phenomena that is of interest for the subsurface (including soil mechanics and reservoir engineering). Given the rock mechanics’ importance for the Oil&Gas sector, Isamgeo developed a deep know-how and its own tools for the necessities of the oil&gas sector in the last 25 years.

While deep and ultra-deep applications step out as the major beneficiary of rock mechanics studies, even some shallow wells and mining industry can benefit a great deal by means of well life cycle, borehole and casing protection, calculation of mud window, modeling of mining galleries and their boundary conditions, and so on.

For most of the geomechanical services, Isamgeo team uses the Isamgeo FE Simulator, state-of-the-art, proprietary software developed by Isamgeo researchers. The simulator has been used in numerous finite element geomechanical studies for the petroleum industry, especially its chalk model that is unique.
